Embroidered pocket shaped patches that state sexual assault statistics.
Using sexual assault statistics to confront the male gaze via an international performance public art display. The pocket-shaped patches, which are designed to be sewn onto the back pocket of pants or other clothing items initiate conversations in public environments. The patches state over thirty sexual assault statistics; they are bright, using various colors and recycled fabrics. The statistics vary, covering sexual assault in all ages, gender, and situations. A female body has been objectified throughout history as a sexual prop and has impacted men’s actions within our contemporary culture; these actions need to be eliminated from society immediately. Whenever a patch is spotted in public, Talking Tushies acts as protection from sexual harassment.
